Supported browsers and platforms
DAERA applications are tested across various browsers, operating systems and devices. This page gives details of which set-ups work best with DAERA applications and websites.
Please note, from June 2022, we will no longer support Microsoft Internet Explorer 11+ (or earlier), which is end-of-life. You are strongly advised to update your browser to ensure better security and optimal user experience.
Recommended browsers
Most DAERA websites and applications have been designed to fully support commonly used browsers running on desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and phones.
Supported browsers / platforms:
- Google Chrome (latest version) — Windows, Mac OS X, iOS, Android
- Apple Safari (latest version) — Mac OS X, iOS
- Microsoft Edge (latest version) — Windows
- Mozilla Firefox (latest version) — Windows
If you are not using one of the browser / platform combinations above, you should still be able to access the websites or applications but they may not display as designed, nor provide you with the best experience.
Upgrading to the latest version
We would recommend upgrading your browser and operating system to the latest versions as soon as upgraded versions are made available for your device. Later versions often have higher levels of security and better functions.
Most browsers / platforms will allow you to upgrade for free and may offer automatic upgrades as soon as they become available.
Browsers that do not display the site properly
To support as wide a range of browsers as possible and allow users of all abilities (including those with a visual impairment or physical disability) to access these applications or websites, they have been developed according to recognised standards set down by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Some browsers, particularly earlier versions, either do not or only partly support W3C standards. These browsers might not display the text and graphics properly.

Occasionally, some of our applications may have different browser support requirements. We will list those applications below:
Watching embedded videos on our website
We embed videos from YouTube in our website. For security, YouTube may sometimes ask you to sign in (using a Google account) to confirm you are not a bot.
- If prompted by Google, you should sign in using a Google account, if you have one
- Refresh the page and try again
- Try a different supported browser
- Allow cookies for your browser
- Ensure JavaScript is enabled. To enable JavaScript, follow the quick steps for Google Chrome or your specific web browser
- Try a different network (for example, mobile data rather than Wi-Fi) if possible
