  • Training Event on Mitigation Reporting - Greenhouse Gas Accounting

    Topics:
    • Climate Change

DAERA hosted and delivered a training event for public bodies on greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting on Wednesday 28th May 2025, at the CAFRE Greenmount Campus.

The training event focused on greenhouse gas accounting, which is essential for mitigation reporting. Greenhouse gas accounting is the process of identifying the greenhouse gases produced directly and indirectly from an organisation’s activities. While GHG accounting can be timely and complex, it allows organisations to quantify their greenhouse gas emissions, understand their climate impact, set goals to reduce their emissions and track their progress overtime. The event also focused on training in relation to the public bodies improving, assuring and using their data effectively.

The technical aspects of the training were delivered by the greenhouse gas accounting and inventory experts from Ricardo, who manage the National Atmospheric Emissions Inventory programme on behalf of the Northern Ireland government.
