The proposed works comprise the repair and reinforcement of existing sea defences at Asset 16E, Eglinton, adjacent to Lough Foyle. The works involve reprofiling the embankment, installation of geotextile, and construction of a new double-layer rock armour revetment to protect the railway corridor from coastal erosion and flooding. Works will be undertaken primarily during night-time railway possessions and tide-dependent periods, using access via the railway, airport lands and foreshore as required.

Project Description: The works at Translink Sea Defences – Section 16E involve the repair and strengthening of existing coastal railway defences located between MP87.75 and MP84.00 on the Coleraine–Derry railway line, adjacent to Eglinton and within the vicinity of City of Derry Airport. The works comprise installation of new rock armour sea defences, including de-vegetation, clearance of failed defences, re-grading of the embankment, and placement of toe and face rock armour, undertaken predominantly during night-time T3 railway possessions due to proximity to airport operations and active railway infrastructure.
