Killylane Reservoir
Killylane is a brown trout fishery where only fly fishing is allowed. The reservoir is located on open moorland with trees surrounding it, providing good shelter. The banks are open with no access problems at normal water levels. However, caution is necessary during low water conditions when mud areas are exposed. The reservoir has a plentiful stock of wild brown trout, which is supplemented by regular stockings to ensure good fishing throughout the season. Popular flies that work well include Cul de Canard (CDC), Bibio patterns, Kate McClaren, and Black Pennel.
The presence of Zebra Mussels is still preventing the stocking of fish from Movanagher Fish Farm. For more information, please visit Zebra Mussels and impact on fish stocking in the Public Angling Estate.
