Shimna River
Shimna Angling Club manages Department-owned fishing rights on the River Shimna under a Management Agreement with the Department. Rising in the Mourne Mountains and flowing through Tollymore Forest Park and Newcastle before entering Dundrum Bay, the river is renowned for its clear water, rocky pools and scenic surroundings. Brown trout, sea trout and salmon may be targeted throughout the season, with all species subject to catch and release and anglers required to use barbless hooks.
Tickets
Six daily tickets are available at a reduced rate to DAERA Game Season Permit holders for the DAERA-managed waters at Tollymore, while eight daily tickets are available at a reduced rate for the club-managed waters in Newcastle. Two of the town water tickets are reserved for anglers with disabilities. Four weekly tickets are also available at a reduced rate and may be used on either water. Weekly tickets are released for sale two days before the first day of fishing.

- From Belfast: Take the A2 towards Newcastle. When you reach Newcastle the forest park is signposted. Anglers pay to park in Tollymore Forest Park car park.
