The burial on premises of sanitary waste arising from the use on those premises of a sanitary convenience which is equipped with a removable receptacle - paragraph 32 exemption

A paragraph 32 exemption allows the burial on premises of waste arising from the use on those premises of a sanitary convenience. Guidance is available below.

Sanitary waste

Quantity

No more than 5 cubic metres can be buried in any period of 12 months.

Location

Burial must be on the premises where the sanitary waste arises.

Additional conditions

The sanitary convenience must be equipped with a removable receptacle and the total amount buried in any period of twelve months must not exceed 5 cubic metres.

The full wording of the paragraph 32 exemption can be found in Schedule 2 of the Waste Management Licensing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003. 

Relevant Objectives in relation to the disposal or recovery of waste are given in paragraph 4 of Schedule 3 to the Regulations.

Paragraph 32 is NOT required to be registered in accordance with the Waste Management Licensing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 (as amended).
