The recovery and storage of waste from a water treatment works or a sewage treatment works - paragraph 46 exemption

A paragraph 46 exemption allows the recovery and storage of waste from within the curtilage of a water treatment works and waste from within the curtilage of a sewage treatment works.

Waste stream(s) permitted

Waste from Water Treatment and Waste from Sewage Treatment (Table 11. Part 1, Schedule 2 of The Waste Management Licensing Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 (as amended).

Storage and location

Storage must be carried out on an impermeable pavement.

Quantity

The maximum quantity of wastes permitted to be accepted in any period of twelve months from the preparation of water intended for human consumption or water from industrial use at a Water Treatment Works, must not exceed 10,000 cubic metres.

The maximum quantity of other municipal wastes or waste from waste water treatment plants permitted to be accepted at a Waste Water Treatment Works in any period of twelve months must not exceed 100,000 cubic metres.
