US-Ireland Research and Development
This partnership is a tri-jurisdictional alliance which was officially launched in 2006 with the aim to promote collaborative innovative research projects which create value above and beyond individual efforts. A number of projects have been successfully funded under the partnership in the field of health, nanoscale science and engineering, sensors and sensor networks, telecommunications and energy and sustainability.
In November 2015 the US-Ireland Research and Development Partnership was expanded to include agri-food. A pilot initiative between DAERA DAFM and the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), US Department of Agriculture was launched in 2016. In 2021, all partners agreed that the pilot had been successful and confirmed that it will continue.

Research projects (Including Case Study video)
Since 2015 there have been a number of successful projects under the US-Ireland R&D partnership.
As part of their role to support the partnership, InterTradeIreland funded a case study of one of the Agriculture projects NAGpro (Improved Anima Husbandry through inhibition of Microbial Bile salt Hydrolase). This project had partners from Queen's University Belfast, University College Cork and University of Tennessee and the case study can be viewed by clicking on the following link https://intertradeireland.com/innovation/us-ireland-r-d-partnership.
