The 2025 DAERA Postgraduate Studentships competition

Each year, the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA), funds full time postgraduate studentships for a three year period of research leading to a PhD qualification at a university in the United Kingdom (UK) or Republic of Ireland (ROI).

The 2025 DAERA Postgraduate Studentships Competition is now open for applications.

Research proposals must address one of DAERA's research needs for 2025.  DAERA intends to fund a minimum of three Lough Neagh nature based solutions Studentships from the 2025 competition (Research Need 4.1), meeting Action 34 of the Lough Neagh Action Plan. (subject to minimum standards being achieved at interview for selection criteria 1, 2 and 3 as outlined at 6.3 and 7 of T&Cs 2025).
