DAERA Environmental Incident Reporting System
Report an environmental, marine or fisheries incident
Before you start
The reporting system is not suitable for contacting emergency services in situations where there is an immediate threat to life, health, or property. In such instances please dial 999.
The NIEA Incident Hotline: 0800 807060 should still be used to report ALL EMERGENCY water pollution incidents.
Incidents which are not covered by this system:
To report a dead gull, wader, duck, goose or swan, please use the DAERA Dead Wild Bird Online Reporting Tool
For Wildlife Crime (including poaching), please visit Wildlife Law
For archaeological disturbance, please refer to Department of Communities.
Prioritising our regulatory activity
We triage all reports of environmental incidents and prioritise our activity to ensure we focus on the areas which best protect the environment and our communities. We may decide not to investigate:
- where there have been a number of previous complaints and a significant proportion of those complaints have been found to be spurious
- where there has been a significant delay between an alleged breach or incident and the time that it is reported to us (in these circumstances we may chose only to assess any ongoing risk).
The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs may also share information, reports or intelligence received with partner agencies where appropriate.
