  • Nature Reserves

    Topics:
    • Land and Landscapes,
    • Biodiversity,
    • Protected areas
Nature reserves are chosen from among the very best examples of our wildlife, habitats and geology. They contain a wide range of species, communities and geology and their designation is a public recognition by Government of their importance.

The primary aim of managing these sites is to conserve their features now and for future generations through the development of experience and techniques in managing land for conservation.

A secondary aim is to provide opportunities, where practical, for the public to experience these natural habitats and landscape features and to interact quietly with nature.
