    2016/429 – Animal Health Law (AHL) and the Cattle Identification (Enforcement) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1998 require Establishment Operator’s (keeper’s) to maintain a herd register.

    An example of the content recorded in a herd book is provided at the link below.               The register must be retained for 10 years from the end of the calendar year in which the last entry was made in the register.

    Online herd register guidance for cattle

    MC1 books (Birth and Death Notification) and MC2 Documents (Movement Notification) when used or received should be retained as part of your herd records.
