Farming with Nature Landscape Projects - Who can apply

Applications may be submitted by constituted groups/organisations including farmer led groups (a single legal entity) or public bodies which will deliver measurable key environmental outcomes. Non-government organisations, agents or other third parties, can apply or run a Landscape Project on behalf of participants. All applications must be from a single legal entity.  Funding is provided on a costs incurred basis, project coordinators and farm businesses should not profit from participation in the scheme.

The person submitting the application (the Lead Applicant) does not need to be a participant within the proposed project area. However, they must be able to demonstrate relevant experience in project management within an agricultural and/or environmental setting. The Lead Applicant must also be confident in their ability to meet all requirements of the scheme, as full responsibility for the delivery and management of the project, the achievement of agreed outcomes, and compliance with scheme requirements will rest with them.

The Lead Applicant will be responsible for maintaining appropriate governance arrangements throughout the lifetime of the project, including the establishment and operation of any required steering groups, decision-making processes, financial controls, record-keeping procedures, and reporting requirements. They must ensure that the project is managed effectively, transparently, and in accordance with all terms and conditions of funding. Failure to maintain the required governance structures or to deliver agreed project outcomes may result in funding being withheld, reduced, recovered, or the project agreement being terminated by DAERA.
