  • Farming with Nature Transition Scheme

    Topics:
    • Agricultural & Environmental Schemes,
    • Sustainable Agriculture Programme,
    • Grants and Funding

The Farming with Nature Transition Scheme aims to increase the extent of habitats on farmed land across Northern Ireland. The actions available will create new habitats, provide new green infrastructure, protect watercourses and contribute to carbon sequestration on farms.

Applications for 2025 Farming with Nature Transition Scheme closed on Monday 4th August 2025 at 5pm.

What Happens Next for 2025 Applications?

    • Decisions on all applications (either approved or rejected) have now been issued. DAERA Messages were issued to the applicant where the application was submitted by the farm business, and to the agent and all registered online farm business users where an agent submitted the application.
    • If you have NOT received confirmation that your application has been approved, please contact FarmingwithNature@daera-ni.gov.uk
    • If you have received confirmation that your application has been approved you can begin work now. Check your confirmation carefully as everything you originally applied for may not have been accepted. Make sure to follow our guidance when completing the work – How do I Carry Out the FwNT Scheme Actions?
    • Work must be completed before you claim for payment. Claims must be submitted online. Claims can be submitted between 2nd and 31st March 2026.

    Important Points to Note:

Scheme participants are required to retain invoices, for example, for seed purchased. Invoices dated prior to the date of acceptance into the scheme would render the action ineligible for payment.

It is your responsibility to understand and comply with all requirements of your FwNT agreement as laid out in the FwNT Scheme Conditions (see relevant link below).

    Further Information

If you have any queries about your application, you can contact our Advisory team by  email  FarmingwithNature@daera-ni.gov.uk or telephone 0300 200 7848 from 9am – 5pm (Monday to Friday).
